Since 2012, Image Works has led the design, development and curriculum refinement of the Lunder New Naturalists online learning system for Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. This ambitious environmental education project leverages web-based and mobile technology to increase students’ engagement and connections to nature.
The website supports students’ environmental science and social studies learning, and enables students and teachers from across Maine to connect and collaborate online to review and contribute to one another’s ideas and creative products. Students study, photograph and document native plant species and habitats to create their own virtual herbarium. Teachers are then able to use assessment tools built into the system to grade and facilitate student growth, creative products and learning.
Phase 1 of this project was successfully launched in September 2013. Currently we are making enhancements to the site and curriculum based on direct feedback from students and teachers. Our collaboration with CMBG has been wonderfully productive and satisfying for Image Works and for our client/partners.
“Image Works has played such a vital role—I don’t know how this program would have launched without you guys. We are grateful!!”
