Common Dreams is a growing non-profit, independent newscenter created in 1997 as a new media model. They came to us in 2014 with an aging, broken Drupal 6 website that had not been well-maintained, often crashed under the weight of increasing traffic, and offered them limited ability to administer the many articles they publish daily.
Through a collaborative process with the paper’s founder, editors and development director, we improved their content administrative pages, publishing process, donations and commenting interfaces, and social media presence. We migrated tens of thousands of historical news and opinion articles from their old Drupal 6 database to the new, more secure Drupal 7 site. An improved, load-balanced hosting service handles traffic and keeps news continually flowing to their readers. The site’s responsive design lets readers get their news on tablets and smart phones.
Since the site launched in 2014, we’ve been supporting and adding new functionality to the site as the newscenter evolves and expands its reach.
